Which course do I take -- Basic or Refresher?
The Basic Defensive Driving Course is for individuals who have never taken a defensive driving course before or it has been more than five years since completing a previous defensive driving course. You will receive a 10% discount on your auto insurance for 3 years plus a 3-point driving record DMV credit.
The Refresher/Advanced Defensive Driving Course is for individuals who have completed defensive driving within the last five years. This 3-hour course extends your benefits and increases your insurance discount to 15% with an additional 3-point driving record DMV credit.
The Delaware Department of Motor Vehicle states “The refresher course can be completed no less than two years and six months after the initial defensive driving course.” (more info…)

How do I pay for the online courses?
Once you have registered for a course, you will be taken to a secure page to pay for it. We accept all major credit and debit cards. Once payment is made, you will be given a confirmation number and can immediately begin your course.
How long do the online courses take to complete?
The Delaware Department of Insurance Regulation 607 requires the Basic course material to be 6 hours in length and the Refresher course material to be 3 hours in length. However, online courses have the advantage over classroom courses by allowing the course takers to complete the course material at their own pace. Save and sign off options are available following the successful completion of each individual chapter. The average time to complete each course chapter is approximately 20 minutes.
Do you have an Advanced course?
Yes we do. In the State of Delaware an Advanced course is the same as the Refresher course. Please go here for more information.
When do I receive my completion certificate?
Upon completion of the course, you will immediately be presented with a copy of your certificate to download for you records – and to forward to your insurance company for your discount.
How do I receive my Delaware DMV 3 point credit?
Delaware Defensive Driving will apply the 3 point credit to your Delaware DMV driving record within fourteen days following your course completion date. If you need further information on how the DMV applies your 3 point credit to your driving record, please go here.

How much will my insurance discount be after completing the course?
According to TITLE 18 INSURANCE DELAWARE ADMINISTRATIVE CODE REGULATION 607:
Upon completion of the Basic course, a 10% discount “shall be applied to the total premiums for bodily injury liability coverage, property damage liability coverage, and personal injury protection coverage”.
Upon completion of the Refresher course, a 15% discount “shall be applied to the total premiums for bodily injury liability coverage, property damage liability coverage, and personal injury protection coverage”.

How do I receive my insurance reduction?
Make a copy of your certificate of completion and give the copy to your insurance agent/company. The discount will then be applied for 3 years. Save your original copy for future reference.
My insurance company won't offer a discounted rate on my insurance. Are they required to do so?
According to Delaware DMV: “If you completed a defensive driving course from a provider that is approved by the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles, yes. According to 18 DE Reg 607, insurance companies are required to offer a discount.” (more info…)
Will I be required to remain online continuously until I complete my course?
No. Save and sign off options are available following the successful completion of each individual chapter. The average time to complete each course chapter is approximately 20 minutes.

What hours of the day are the online courses available?
24/7 and 365 days a year!
How long will my course be available in my account?
Uncompleted courses remain in users accounts for a minimum of one year and can be completed at any time within that period. After one year, the course may no longer be available. In which case, you would have to repurchase the course and start again from the beginning.
After registering, why does it say “The license number you have entered is already registered"?

Do you have classroom classes?
We no longer offer classroom classes, however, you can now enjoy the same easy format from the comfort of your home through our online class. It just takes a couple of minutes to register and you can sit back and watch a series of short videos to review the same material as our classroom classes. You can even leave and resume at a later date where you left off.
I entered my license number or information incorrectly. How do I fix this?
It is the users responsibility to enter the correct license number or information correctly as it appears on their drivers license. If the information is not correct, we will not be able to upload your 3-point credit with the Delaware DMV. If the user enters an incorrect license number or information, they should contact the course provider immediately to have it corrected on their account at (302) 444-4977. A $10.00 fee may apply.
I've lost my certificate. Can I get another copy?
If you completed the course within the past year, you can log back into your account and click on the “Certificates” tab to download another copy of your certificate. If it has been over a year, please click here for more information.
How do I find current copies of manuals and publications referenced in the course?
We periodically reference rules, laws and regulations from federal and state manuals. The most current and up-to-date information can be found at Delaware DMV Driver Manuals and Guides, State of Delaware Motor Vehicles Code, Delaware Department of Transportation Publications and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Does the website work with Internet Explorer?
