Delaware DMV-Approved Defensive Driving Courses

Question: What is a Delaware DMV-approved Defensive Driving course?

Answer: The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles Defensive Driving Program approves companies that offer defensive driving courses in Delaware. Approved providers must meet standards mandated by DMV, such as: required material and regulations covered and a certain amount of time spent on the course (6 hours for Basic and 3 hours for Refresher). More information can be found on the State of Delaware Regulation 2224 here.

What does this mean for you?  When you take our DMV-Approved Defensive Driving course (also known as a Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention Course), you can be assured that after completing the course, your certificate will be accepted at any Delaware insurance company.  The discount “shall be applied to the total premiums for bodily injury liability coverage, property damage liability coverage, and personal injury protection coverage”.  You will also receive a 3-point credit on your Delaware driving record.  Note:  If a defensive driving company is not DMV-approved, they cannot apply a 3-point credit!
