Diverging Diamond Interchange’s (DDI’s) are a relatively new traffic interchange design being implemented throughout the United States. They can improve safety and move traffic along faster than traditional interchanges. Delaware’s first diverging diamond interchange (DDI) opened at Route 1 and Route 72 in 2016.
